The japanese have some very strange stuff, Ring 2 is excellent (and probably Ring as well), one of the few "horror" films that actually scared me :)

(and they did it with subtitles!)

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is probably my favourite.
Ring is excellent too, alot better than the followup imo.

Blue Velvet. Not actually a 'horror' movie but some of the scenes involving Dennis Hopper will have you running for the back of your couch.

    Ring 1
    Dark Water
    The Eye (Jian Gui)
    Jacobs Ladder
    Final Destination

'Martin'. But i'm not sure if it's a horror. Whatever it is, i watched the first 5-10 min and couldn't stomach the rest!

    Thats gotta be saying something.

i was a clip of the eye and it looks class, can it be got over here?
ALso 13 ghosts wasent bad or Bones are my to recent horrors or any horror from the 80`s or early 90`s are uasyally good.

But the best horror id recomend even though i havent seen it is crossroads with britny spears now that has to be scary!

The Eye is showing in the IFC, saw it last weekend, or the one before. Not sure how long it's gonna stay on:

Friday 25th to Thursday 31st October

    The Eye
    Fri 2.00 4.10 6.20pm
    Sun 2.00pm
    Mon 2.00pm
    Tue 2.10 4.20 8.50pm
    Thu 2.10 4.20 6.20pm

Well worth it (if you're in Dublin!)

Dog Solders is great. Along the same lines as Evil Dead and Bad Taste (although slightly more serious).

I'd have to say Evil Dead 2 is my favourite. Myself and a mate saw it at the cinema when we were 1`4. Scared the sh*t out of us :D

The day of the dead trilogy are excellent too... especially day of the dead... Anyone seen that ?

The Shining and the fog are another 2 that spring to mind...

    Looking forward to 28 days.

Here's a few that people haven't really been mentioning...
    Zombie Flesh Eaters
Night of the Living Dead (1990) - I actually prefer Tom Savini's version to the original.
Don't Look Now - Intense, odd film.
The Changeling - George C Scott.. in a haunted house. Ow, my groin.
The Fog - There's a lovely R1 dvd out now, with some really nice extras.
Dagon - Another Stuart Gordon (Re-animator) take on a H.P. Lovecraft story. Not too gory, just.. creepy.
Rosemary's Baby - Odd that noone's mentioned this already
Tesis - By the same guy who did the others.. not really a 'horror', but, again, hella creepy.
The Haunting (1963) - One of the greatest 'haunted house' films ever.

i would recommend watching Event Horizon

generaly horror movies don't scare me but this movie is really freaky...
check out your local xtravision store, they usualy have a copy or two floating around

    edit:
just checked out amazon to see a review of RING. must be pretty good if most people give it 5 stars...

    The Omen
    Carrie
    Halloween
    The Amtiville Horror
Dont forget to check the children (dont know whether thats the name or not, but youll know what im talking about if youve seen it!)

Rosemarys baby.. that would put the creeps up you all right

There's a new movie out "the ring" it's in the us and I saw a preview, mmm wonder if it's a remake of the Japanese one? I'll have a look for this movie, the Japanese version.

I want to see this too, it's probably very similar to an 80s movie which I quite like called "Night of the comet" remember it?
