China are to get a date on the F1 calander from 2004 in Shanghai,
one of three European tracks is to be given the chop and it looks like it could be the best of the lot, Spa. All due to the ban of cigarette advertising. If this comes to pass they might as well just stop the whole show, things are dull enough allready.

    Mike..

    Free Kevin!

SPA was a joke this year, the cars just have incredible amounts of grip.

I think this year was the first ever that Eau Rouge was taken flat by EVERYONE, ie there is enough grip even from the Minardi to handle this circuit.

Having said that I love Spa and it should hold a Grand Prix forever, but they could alter the corner so that it cant be taken flat ie by taking out the concrete run off and put in a gravel trap so the drivers have no safety net and if they go off they really go off

The had altered Eau Rouge after a few nasty accidents ... might explain it. Shame to see it go, it was definately my favourite venue on the calender.

formula 1 has lost one of its last great circuits. its understandable, and regrettable, that tobacco dollars have made the decision - but money talks (nowhere more than in f1)

the sad thing is that f1 is becoming ever more "sanitised" , for want of a better word, and this is just another step in the wrong direction.
traction control, launch control, circuits being butchered with chicanes - it all leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

I remember watching the 1998 pile-up in work.. my brother was in Australia at the time and rang me.
First thing he said was "Don't tell me anything about the Grand Prix. It's on a 30 minute time delay over here...."

I was like... but, but, but....
He couldn't understand how I had no (other) news... why i wasn't talking to him and stuff :)
