The writers on the show came up with storylines that were taken from their own experiences. In the case of Larry David there are numerous storylines including Jer buying the suede jacket (The Jacket) also him being master of his domain him and Jer meeting NBC execs mirrored George and Jer.In the case of Peter Melhman a guy at his gym looked like Salman Rushdie, also there was a double dip at a party, and also he finds it embarrassing to say but he once asked an airline about a death in the family fare.
The oral sex plot in The Rye comes from Leifer’s friendship with sax player Dave Koz.
There are also storylines which were never used, including Kramer becoming a guinea pig for medical experiments, he sues over a ladies night at a bar. But Jer and Larry were not impressed by them.
In a LA bookstore Larry Charles once cornered Richard Dreyfus and pitched a movie. That spawned Kramer’s similar assault on Fred Savage (The Trip) NBC spiked 2 of his scripts. In one Elaine buys a gun, George makes an inadvertently racist remark (“I’ve never seen a black person order a salad”)
Andy Robin once went to the beach with a woman who stripped down to her underwear spawning Sue Ellen Mishke’s bra- as-outwear.
A rude florist once refused to sell Jennifer Crittenden some ribbon very much like Elaine’s feud with Putamayo (The Millennium) She also found her husband listening to Christian rock in his car, that was the inspiration of The Puddy storyline in The Burning
She wanted to do a story involving Kramer running everywhere instead of exercising but the rest of the writers thought it was insane.
Jeff Schaffer’s brother once lived near a hotel with a sleep depriving neon sign- the inspiration for The Chicken Roaster.
They also tried to do a storylines involving Kramer trying to renovate a bargain skeleton and sell it for a profit, though LD ironically thought it was creepy and strange.

There was talk of getting Paul Mccartney in an ep in the final season they'd have him hanging around Newmans apt but never got around to doing it.
Jason Alexander wanted to do an all musical show
An all Claymation ep(glad they didn't do that)
an ep just focusing on the bench characters.

    Hmmm...
When you think about it, the ideas of what could have been done are endless.

I suppose CYE has taken on the mantle of including alot of celebs in cameo roles and perhaps Jerry might work a few of the more wacky things into The upcoming "Letters form a Nut" :)
