RTE transmission network sale ends

    As expected, RTE has ended the sale of its transmission network, the advisers, Rothschilds and AIB, have been released.

    This is the last piece in the DTT jigsaw - we are now "Back To Square One". Well, not quite, the Broadcasting Act 2001 remains in place, but rumours abound of new primary legislation to repeal and replace the Broadcasting Authority Act 1960 and Radio and Television Act 1988, turning RTE into a Corporation and replacing its board of governors (the Authority) and the BCI with a new body.

    The long and the short of it: DTT in Ireland is over before it began...
