i'm just back from a trip to milan.
and while milan isn't renound for the best food in italy, its good enough for me. :D
one thing that i realised while over there was the quality of the pizza. there seems to be a huge difference in the pizza that you get over there than any where in ireland.

so the question is - where does the best pizza in dublin?

The Independant Pizza Company or Chew 'n' Chat.

TypeDef, I also spent 4 months in Milan in 1999 and have yet to find a comparible pizza. The Independent Pizza place in Drumcondra is good as is Claires Takeaway in Clondalkin (They have Italian chef's).

Claires is still there? Wow. That little place did me so many favours on so many different dates... once upon a time.

I think I may take a trip out to Clondalkin for dinner there over the w/end :)

Damn tasty pizza. Shame it's all they way out in Clondalkin tho.

I don't know about the best pizza in Ireland, but I've just come back fom Chicago, and they have the best Pizza i've ever tasted, anywhere...

Deep-pan filled pizzas, and all for about $1 a slice..
    Absolutely magic..

I know it's not exactly as good as Italy but I was always a little partial to Four Star Pizza myself (yessss i managed to say "partial")

Pizza delivery joints like 4 star and Dominos are unbeatable.Ive been to the US and while the pizza there is great the best Ive ever had came from the aforementioned places.Only problem is that they are really overpriced :(
On the other hand Pizza Hut is to be avoided like the plague unless greasy miniture pizzas with scant toppings is what you fancy.I threw up from all the grease once.
    And talk about overpirced.

i'm no expert on pizza. But the best i've had is Godfather's in Ranelagh.

    Mumm.

    Man, now i want a pizza :p

I usually have slices, since I can't be bothered to stand around waiting. :)

The best I've had in Dublin so far is from a little place just off Georges st, opposite Break for the Border. It's called 'Pizza Top' iirc. Very nice. Expensive though. :(

The slices from Steps of Rome, off Grafton st are great too.

    Teeth.

say, yeah. Ignore my last post, 'Pizza Top' is way better than Godfather's.

For "New Age" pizza, (ie non-traditional toppings like barbeque chicken, sour cream etc) Gotham Cafe on South Anne Street is the best. Similar to the Independent Pizza Company, but IMO, a little bit better.

4 star meat deluxe, Gotham, Steps of Rome and oh a trip to Amsterdam generally yields good pizza's. Whacked as I was over there, the pizzerias serve huge slices of really good pizza that really hits the spot when you have a bad case of the munchies.

It has to be the Independent Pizza Company in Drumcondra. I've never had better and I've eaten a lot of Pizza.
