I am in a food-fad lull right now unfortunately, I am in between fads at the moment.

My last fad was French toast.

I'd like my next fad to be home made pizza's but I don't think it'll take off as I can't be arsed every day to make pizza.

Actually something I am always using in my cookery these days is coconut milk so I guess that is my fad.

It weird You mention Coconut Milk Actually-

I rarely feel positvely sick after eating most things but i did recently during a meal at a Thai restaurnat called Diep Le Shaker- its on Pembroke Lane, just off baggot St.

I got this side of veggies in Cocunut Milk- OMG- REPULSIVE stuff!!!

Yes, unfortunately coconut milk dishes can make you think you are eating a bowl of crunchy suncream. Get over that and you can be on your way to realising the true beauty of it but if not - you're fecked!

My fads change every two weeks or so. At the moment it's those little mini sushi dishes from Aya that you buy in Dunnes and curry flavoured Tayto. Oh.. and toffee muffins.

Black pepper - on anything that's not sweet. And lots of it :D

I give myself a week before I get sick of it. It's not the first time!

    Animal Bars.
They only cost 13c so you can buy 4 or 5 for the price of a normal bar, and you get a puzzle on the inside of the wrapper. :)

I can only imagine a packet of marzipan is about a weeks worth of calories for avg. person. Its the kind thing you *can* eat but know you shouldnt.

    Interesting to hear about though!!

Cajun food! I'm about to cook a Louisiana spicy baked fish dish (lots of chillis) and a side dish of cajun rice (served cold, bleedin tons of chillis:))

Also, coconut milk can be fantastic - next time you cook something vague thai, when you are boiling the rice, boil it in a mix of half water, half coconut milk - its heaven.

My current fad is Dunnes Store's own brand version of Rice Crispies cereal called 'Crisp Rice'! I dunno why but it's yummy! Way nicer that the Kellogg's version which is mostly air.

Oh and Coolmore double chocolate fudge cake.. thank god very few places sell these or I'd be twice the size I am now. :)

    Teeth.

I'm sorry, it might be gorgeous, buy how the fluck did you come across that combination? It can't have been an accident like that stupid woman in that silly Oh-God-I-spilled-Worcester-Sauce-in-the-spaghetti-bolognese-COMPLETELY-by-accident ad. Go on!

This has to be the wierdest combo since Chicken Maryland (c'mon - it's fried battered banana??)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,524 ✭✭✭✭Gordon

God I love chicken maryland, fried banana rocks my bellybutton. Fried banana is actually an African... thing, although they have much sturdier bananas that can take a good frying without batter, over there. I can only presume chicken maryland is one of the dishes that African slaves ate in America, hence turning the name to make it sound American.

Anyway if you are amazed at fried banana, how do you feel about the British's deep fried mars bar?!

Coconut milk is now officially on the "Stomach Restraining Order" list. Tried it (For your sake Regi :p) again on Friday night- My tummy is still making noises and i felt very poorly- headache etc, after it.
And I used Uncle Bens as well !!
