I'm sure this has been covered numerous times before but I was wondering how do I go about getting an FTV card for my Irish Digibox ?

I have a grundig box with semi subsciption (all but premium).

If it helps I have an uncle in the north of Ireland and he also has a digibox. (I presume he's entitled to one ?)

Is it possible for me to get one somehow ? can you buy them ?

    Cheers

    V10.

Tony, while I have you, do you have an email address that I ask you about I new sky installation on ?

The BBC's official info is here : http://www.bbc.co.uk/digital/get_sat.shtml

You need to have use of a UK address, for which a TV licence should have been purchased, and to which the card will be sent. You will need to call the UK to order the card, blocking your number when you call, or alternatively get a UK contact to make the call on your behalf. You'll need the system information (serial number etc.) that you can find in the services menu of your Digibox.

Tony, you dont have e-mail or PM active at the bottom of your post. Go into User Control Panel to change the settings there. :)

Appreciate your help Damo but I had to disable it, too many questions about stuff that should be posted here.

V10. You should have taken my offer for the Seimen's SL45 ;)

Anyway if you ask your uncle to ring sky and ask for a new FTV card (each house is entiltled to 4). When your ready to activate the card get him to ring up with the serial number of your box and hey presto your FTV card will now work with your box :D

BTW did you post the phone yet :( I hate this 3210

OK Tony, I followed your link but I was gonna ask you - I am about to order a sky box with a new subsciption to sky(€60pm) but I already have a Sky minidish and Lnb it isn't installed - so I don't need another one - anything you can do with the price ?

Daveg I would have considered what you were offering me but I didn't need a decoder, just a FTV Card - if you have one working - how much do you want for it - to save me the hassle of asking my uncle to get me a card ?
I posted the phone this morning - the post office didn't have any COD dockets on Friday. (If I'd know how much COD had cost I wouldn't have done it btw - but since I had agreed...)

    Cheers,

    V10.

V10 it's nearly impossible to get a "blank" FTV card at the minute. However I can get you a susbcribed card (card that is married to another box). It will give you UTV/CH4/CH5. Is that any good 2 you ? Sorry about the COD price :(

    Daveg

Would the card work with my sky box or is it 'married' to another box - If it is married to another box, couldn't I just ring them and tell them I've changed my box ?

    and how much ?

It will work with your box (giving UTV/CH4/CH5). I'm not sure about rining up sky and telling them you have changed decoder. I imagine the only way they can do that would be if you had the origional address the card was registered to and I wouldn't have that info. I could probably get you a card for €35-€40.

Ah, I dunno - I would have paid €10 or maybe even €20 but considering Utv & Ch4 is supposed to be available on ROI Sky card by November I think €35/€40 is too much !

Surely a tenner is enough ??? ah go on ! :( after all postage for that phone cost me €18 !

there is more than UTV and Channel 4 on it. anyway someone here has said that the UTV that is supposed to be on ROI Sky is only going to be a half arsed version because of programme rights

V10 I'm not trying to rip you off. My contact charges me £20stg. However seen as though posting the phone cost €18 I'll give it to you at cost if you want.

Mossy your probably right but ch4/ITV and CH5 are the main ones you'll get.... not sure about BBC choice Cbeebies ect ect...

Cloud - Make it 3 jelly beans and your on :D

Oh and I wouldn't hold your breath for UTV and CH4 for Ireland.
