    Notice.

    risc 003: Physical Remix project.
    www.compactrisc.net/physicalremix

Compactrisc Records is an independent record label based in Dublin. We will soon be releasing a 7" vinyl single by Herv entitled 'Warmduscher'. (please see www.compactrisc.net and www.compactrisc.net/herv for full details). The initial run of 330 copies will be available on 70g vinyl in four different covers printed on 160gsm tracing card.

This is, however, the second pressing of the single. The initial vinyl pressing of the ‘Warmduscher’ 7" single was mis-pressed by the manufacturers, resulting in a reduction of audio quality to an unacceptable level. The single was subsequently re-pressed to our satisfaction, but this resulted in a situation where we were in posession of over 300 mis-pressed records.

It has been decided that, rather than simply dispose of these records, they will be the subject of a physical remix project, open to all interested participants. Participants can remix the record (as opposed to the music on it) in whatever way they see fit.

We encourage participants to come up with creative and innovative remix methods. Proposals received to date include plans to copper-plate a copy of the record, to make a video of a copy of the record being shot, to grind a copy of the record to powder, to use copies of the records as clothing, to use a copy of the record as a cooking utensil, as well as other methods of remixing. Full submission details are available at www.compactrisc.net/physicalremix .

Participation in this project is open to all interested parties. However, there are a limited number of records available, and we would like to facilitate the largest possible number of people in the remix project.

Therefore, we ask that interested parties send an email to physicalremix@compactrisc.net giving a brief description of their remix plan before Monday, October 28th 2002. The description should, if possible, outline what the proposed remix will entail, how many copies of the record will be required in order to complete the remix, and any other important details.

The project is being given the compactrisc catalogue number risc003 and we plan to exhibit as many as possible of the resultant remixes.
