I heard that Poor old BILL was losing approx. $4.75 million per minute yesterday...

Please loose at least one of those minutes in my bank account.......

So he lost $11billion. If they break up Microsoft, the net result finacilly will be that he will not only make it all back, he be richer than if he had just Microsoft.

When you have $40 billion who gives a toss if you lose 11? You're still richer than anyone else. He could set up his own bloody country at this stage.

That's all magic bean money though (if push came to shove, how much of that money would be real?)

As for funding a country. He did one time. For his wedding he bought a island, kind of. He basically bought every possible room on the island (camping grounds too) so no press were allowed on the island as they would be arrested for vagrancy.

Man with 40Billion, I'd do a couple of 1Billion bets for the laugh.

I assume when you say magic bean you mean stock? I'm sure he's cute enough to have a stash of gold or some such that would be there if the stock market crashed. Personnally, I'd have some stuff squired away (property, precious metals, etc.) so that if the was a complete crash in the markets I'd be fine.

As for the bet - would you find a bookie to take it?

Take it easy lads ffs i bet you all use microsoft and if you work in offices use access or excel. Bill Gates is a fukken genius who earned billions and people are jelous of him i admire any man who can earn so much money i so little time he aint forcing anyone to use microsoft and there is no compeditor(in operating systems) out there except lunix or unix but there harder to set up. Yes he is trying to get rid of his competitor the only diffrence between this case and any other he is successful in getting rid of them.

/me waits as people will go mad

Kind of ironic that in the same weekend M$ loses their case (still the appeal stage to go through, remember) I manage to get linux running.

amp - now using a completely wintel free system. (well apart from the 6 gig win98 partition. Which I can't get booting. ummmm.)

    Lunacy Abounds! Play GLminesweeper!

I heard that I still got to keep my job so I couldn't give a tos if he lost that amount of waddage. Although I also heard that a mate went and bought 10ks worth of shares cos he believes they're gonna build back up again in value ove the coming months.

    A 1 billion dollar bet
    are you nuts!
    are you crazy!
    are you mad!
everybody knows you should put 1/2 a billion each-way.
and you were going to just squander it on the nose.

Yah I kinda' agree with Take it.
    But aswell as that...
If M$ hadn't included Internet Explorer free with Win9x, we'd be buying the fu*king Nutscrape browsers for £40.
Windowze is also nice when it works.
I haven't managed to get Linux running properly.
And Nutscrape NaviGAYt0r is a bit cr@p IMHO.
    So dare!

WASHINGTON, April 3 —   U.S. District Judge Thomas Penfield Jackson dealt a momentous legal blow to Microsoft Corp. Monday, ruling that the software giant violated the Sherman Antitrust Act in illegally tying its Web browser to the Windows operating system to crush rival Netscape. Microsoft quickly responded to the ruling in the historic case, saying it would appeal.

    hehe - at last smile.gif
said on the radio it might lead to the breakup of microsoft... like that's going to happen...

What they have to worry about is that all the States are now allowed sue them. A heck of a lot of legal cases coming up.

But breaking up companies in the US has shown that it ends up working out better for the company and the consumer.

Look at Ma Bell, before they broke it up in the US you had to rent your phone and line as well as pay for local calls. (sound familar)

I've been using a preview release of Netscape 6. It doesn't handle the pics very well (it is an alpha), but it's been more stable than 4 (which I used quite a bit).
If you're wondering where Nav 5 is, they've skipped it smile.gif

Yes I uses WinNT in work, develop stuff for use under Win 9x, and I do agree Windows has made computers more accessable to people like my parents, but I still don't agree with how they've placed themselves in such a dominat position in the market pace.

As for Linux being harder to setup, that is rapidly changing. A mate of mines HD ****ed up recently and he had to reinstall both Linux and Win98 on it. Linux took about 40 minutes to instal and configure. Win98 took nearly 4 hours. Not a good thing.

I know where you're coming from Take It, but the fact is that you can use Microsoft products and still hate Bill Gates...

    I do smile.gif
