Is it possible to put 2 video cards in your machine and split the desktop between 2 monitors?
    im on win 2000.

You can do one of two things. You can run one dual head card - has two VGA or DVI or a mixture of outputs going to two different monitors or you can run two individual cards.

These can be a combination of AGP (you can of course only have one of these - only 1 AGP slot) and PCI or you could run mutliple PCI cards.

If you just want to extend your desktop (2d stuff) then I would recommend a Matrox card, you could probably pick up a cheap Millennium I or II on one of the auction sites. Matrox are good for 2d and have driver support out of the box in Windows.
