    Borads,

Is it easy to overclock machines?
    Is it a h/w or s/w thing?
How do you read the operating voltage and temperature of your CPU?

Some machines are easier to overclock than others some won't overclock at all you will have to give us some info about your system. You generally have to up the FSB in the bios (maybe jumpers if its old) .You will also want to make sure you pc is cooled well .
To read the operating voltage and temperature of your CPU you can use something like motherboard manager 5
