UKGPL Championship - Div 6 - Monte Carlo GP at Monaco

    After the race at Spa and a final placing of 11th due to drivers in front of me getting penalties, I badly wanted to pick up some more points and get a better finish at Monaco, but 30 laps at the tight twisting track with the advanced damage model would be tough going. I put in a fair bit of praccie tho and got my laptimes down to 1.31's.

    Qualifying started badly, i couldn't get a clear run for a decent time and spent 4 to 5 laps doing wreakage avoidance, but finally I got a clear run and put in a 1:31.14 which put me 3rd on the grid! Next lap was a 1:31.98 so I was pushing on but ran into slow traffic and never got another good lap in. I watched my pit board slowing dropping me down places till qualifying ended, and I sat 6th on the grid, not too bad considering I only managed 14th the previous race :)

    Onto the grid, and I was on the inside, so I wasn't on the racing line, and its a curved grid, bah, the flag dropped, I let the clutch out n off we went, the 7th placed car got the jump on me and I pulled in behind him up the Beau Rivage from turn1. Up ahead there was a coming together in front of me at Massanet, i slowed, a fezzer tipped me after it lost control going up on the pavement, a few other cars got spun out, but i got thru unscathed.
    Lap 5 - I seen a Yellow flag as i hit the rise coming out of tunnel, i tipped brakes, lost it and stuck the car in the bales at chicane, Shift'R'ed when my mirrors were empty n could hear nothing, and took a Stop and Go penalty.
    Lap 6 - Gazometres, fezzer hits me from rear after i clip bales n slow more than usual, only a tap tho, am ok and race off, his engine seems to blow up tho, leaving him medium rare :)
    Lap 11 - I get rear ended by an eagle which was going waaay to fast between Massanet and Casino, putting me on my roof. i shift-R'ed and pulled in behind him, determined to get my place back, I was down in 9th now.
    Lap 11-30 - I spend this time catching, hassling and passing my way up to 7th again, and with a few laps to go and with a reasonable cushion to the 8th placed driver i eased off and made sure I did nothing rash.
    Lap 30 - Tabac - I've been gaining on a Ferrari over the last 2 laps and he goes tight into the corner, I outbrake him on the outside, taking the long way around and move past him, however, hes not content to let me go and rear ends me lightly, spinning me. I do a quick 1st gear 180 degree spin n head for the final turn and the finish line. Damn fun race, 7th position gives me 11 points.
