They may be a very badly run company, but if NTTDoCoMo bought them out then they would immediately be catapulted into being the very best run company and from all the press releases I've seen they will have 3G handsets and good coverage before anyone else

certainly does the rounds covering software, hardware, networks and the stock market... good opening though, at least he admits to the difficulty at predicting anything in the telecomms sector
It's inviting future ridicule to sit here at the beginning of the situation, predicting what will happen. The folly of this can be seen in how bad predictions have been over the past few years, but I'm prepared to take that risk.

aside: i lost my bet at to when the dig at MS would appear :( sure it wouldn't be a register article without one ;)

.....explains why a Dodgyfone users cannot get higher than 14.4k data while a Voodoofone users gets 43.2k

O2 'bet' on GPRS for data and decided not to support HSCSD which is the high speed (for a mobile) data standard as implemented on the 6210 among other phones.

One of those others is the 6510 which I got because of HSCSD, but I have never even come close to 42kbps ... maybe if I climb a mast and try it ... could get a bit warm though:eek:

Cheers for that ... I wonder if going to 4.09 from 4.00 will help ... .. not to worry though, the speed I get 33ish kbps is fine for what I want it for (not logging on to boards.ie!!)..
