I'm thinking of going to work in Australia next year for a bit, has anyone here had experience of getting a visa? I know theres a work/travel visa for 6 or 12 months, but are they difficult to obtain, and are you supposed to move every three months as I've heard?

And are jobs as thin on the ground as i've heard?

Don't know too much about the visas but try www.eta.immi.gov.au

And I know that the economy's gone rapidly downhill, but I've heard lots of people who were there last year and got good jobs. Just don't forget to claim your tax back when you come home

Yes Jobs are thin on the ground in Australia. They have laws that they just give jobs to locals before any foreigners.

The visa is easy to get if under 30 with no kids.

If you want to see the place then go, but if you want dosh then dont bother.

You can get the same visa for New Zealand. Again jobs are pretty scarce but N.Z. is a lot more fun IMHO.
