Any one know any good bike motor games for the PC.

I got moto racer 2 and its fairly good, and I rember playing a demo version of superbike 2000 a while back, though i never got the full game. Is there any other good bike games out there, you know what is the GPL of bike games, and Dave Mirra`s bmx doesent count.

Moto GP for PC is fun.graphics are beautiful on a GF4 TI.
Handling is good but no sim as braking distance is waaaaay too short but its fun none the less.Graphics are a sight to behold. My brother has xbox version but GFX on my system are a lot better mainly because of hidger res, ie 1600x1400.
If youve got a decent pad its a very good bike game.Once you get use to cockpit view its stunningly recreating the felling of riding a 190 bhp bike.except for super brakes.
Its a great game to show off your comp to friends.

GP 500 is king of the Motorbike games on the PC.
It still looks very fresh today and the sound is very brash but nothing like the Ferrari in GPL..hehe

you cant have a good bike game on a computer because the way you ride a bike is not through pushing or pulling any levels it is entirly about postioning your body and shifting weight. the mechanics of it cannot be simulated with a joypad/wheel etc.

I agree with chernobyl. "The GPL of bikes" is the perfect way to describe GP 500.

And as for DiscoStu's comment, A steering wheel or joystick are fine for controlling how someone leans on a bike. I don't see people complaining about the way a mouse is used to make someone turn around and look up and down in quake-style games. Yet turning around i'm sure is just as complex a movement for the muscles in yer body as leaning over on a bike is.

The point is that games let you do things you wouldn't normally be able to. And games are a lot better at simulating bike racing than they are at other things.

You should try MotoGP on the Xbox.
You use the left analogue stick to position the rider, shift your weight (in all directions) and control the direction of the bike and also shift weight to help in braking and acceleration.

You use the right stick for acceleration.
Left Trigger for front braking, and right for rear braking.

The controller is perfectly setup for it, and MotoGP is an excellent purchase for any Xbox owner.

    Only €60 on play.com.

Nah PC version is way better.Im mean a powerfull PC with a GF 4 under the hood.
My Gravis Eliminator Pad does the same as XBOX pad with FF too.
If you have a good PC get pc version and pump up the res ,bloody gorgeous.

Discostu is right. We are all gifted with GPL - a good video game representation of arguably the best Car racing that has ever occoured. Unfortunatly this is not possible with bikes. Bikes cannot be put on pc or playstation. Bike racing is all about feel, weight distribution, physical strength and a bunch of other things that I reckon cannot be simulated. As much as I would like a good simuation for Irish road racing or ANY bike racing, I doubt that there will EVER be an accurate bike game at all.

Road racing is the greatest sport that has ever existed on the face of this world - For people to participate they will have to get a lot of money, and put their life on the line.

I know a steering wheel or joystick isn't -perfect- for controlling a bike, but i'm saying it's a lot better than using a mouse to control a person in an FPS. The possibilities for a person in a game who's trying to kill his opponents are far more varied than even the huge array of possibilities of someone who's simply trying to ride a bike faster than his opponents.

I know in bike racing, everything's got to be extremely accurate, but maybe if it was possible in counter-strike to drop anvils off tall buildings onto your foes, just maybe... i'd be the best damn counter-strike player out there. But since there isn't that option, it's just not a realistic game ;)

I have to disagree. Using a mouse in an fps means you can move, look and shoot as fast as you can think. Most FPS games ( I'm thinking of quake really here ) are not very realistic, so the control method that gives you most control and freedom is best, allowing you to react as fast as your reflexes will allow.

the point of a racing game is having the best+most realistic control as possible ! (Unless its a console)

Well another point is to enjoy youre self!

...and thats why we all play GPL, the most sadistic, unforgiving and fiendishly difficult racing game ever produced :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,982 ✭✭✭RoadRunner

maybe it's just me, but I can't enjoy a racing game if its not realistic. I'll have a buzz playing mariokart, but that's just so stupid it's fun.
