Well when you hit Vancouver, there's an X-Files tour that takes you around some of the filming locations from the series (if you're an X-Files fan that is).
There's also a nice revolving resturaunt in downtown vancouver, which should give you a nice view of the city.
Stanley park (also downtown) is just beautiful, and they have functions and things there sometimes... an outdoor stage with plays etc.

I think you'll be a few weeks too late for the annual fire works feastival... "Symphony of Fire" or something it was called... a massive international compettition lasting over 3 or 4 days... but that was in August last time I was over, ah well :/

You could probably get some skiing/snowboarding in aswell if you've got the cash to spare... Whistler mountain is only a short drive from the city... but I'm not sure if it's the right time of year for it.

It really depends on what you're in to... everything from breathtaking national parks and classy resturaunts to strip joints and pawn shops.

The flight into Vancouver is just amazing if you're landing there in daylight... gliding over the snowy pine-tree mountains, then seeing the city & sparkling sea unfolding before you.
On the approach to landing, you'll see rivers with tons of those floating logs... very pituresque.
Make sure you get a window seat... there's loads to see... 9 whole hours of delightful scenery.
(My brother saw the northern lights on his way over/back aswell.)

Canadian Customs & Immigration might also want to know your life story, but don't let that mess with your head, they're nice people really :) (say hi to them for me!)

/me waits for cheque in the post from Canadian tourism board. :D
