As said on other boards dragging up old posts is just anoying, if you wish to continue a discussion/topic, please just link to the old post and continue on your merry way. if this happens any more ill just lock everything over 3 months and ban the person dragging it backup for a few weeks.

    Regards,

    Paul

So if you are a new user here and see an old post you are required to create a new thread and link to the old one.

" Hello I actually have a solution to that problem that nobody else could fix. It was in thread http://blahblahblah " but I can't add to that thread so I'm creating this new thread which probably in time will get merged with the old thread ... "

You looking for a job in the Civil Service or something ?

Can you clarify the definition of old threads ? Whats the boards.ie official as stated by Devore and Cloud defintion of "old thread " . I should really read the faq, its in there I presume ?

Ironically I'm really dragging up an old one here (sorry, this isn't a board I read very often).

I don't think that boards has any guidelines on what is an old thread. We could automatically archive/lock threads over a certain age, but we don't. I'd say these sorts of things are really at the discretion of the moderator.
