I'm working on a compaq EVO D310 running windows 2000.
Problem is that if the computer goes into standby you cannot get it to come out. you have to restart. I can stop the computer going into stanby but there are several people here with the same problem and i want it fixed rather than avoid the problem.
    All help welcome!!

I had that problem in XP. Check to see if Hibernation is turned on.

Control Panel / Display / Screen Saver / Power / Hibernate.

If it is, try turning it off and see if that helps.

Hibernate is off and it's still the same.

Something else I forget to mention, when it's in standby no matter what key I press nothing happens except for the up arrow. It causes the fan in the pc to rev up but the computer does not come back on line.

OK, from a quick look at technet, I found this:

    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;Q228255&

    You could also look here:

    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q242495

See if any of those help. :)

Ran the windows 2000 support tool , I got back a message saying "This is an ACPI machine, AMP is NOT relevent on this machine"

    I'm conufuzzeled altogether.

Actually, thinking back to my old compaq laptop, they have their own power management/hibernation solution, don't they?

Try Compaq's site and see if there is anything there.

    - Dave.
