The Rossoneri got thier first of 6 wins they will record in the first groupstage f the Champions league tonight. SuperPippo scored his 201 and 202 professional goals tonight with help from a cross from Kaladze and an inch perfect from the amazing right foot of the one and only, greatest playmaker on earth Rui Costa.
Lens pulles one back, bt Milan brought on Massimo Ambrosini to sure up the mid field and pushed Rui Costa up front, soon after that Rui Costa was replaced by Jon Dal Tomasson.
Martin Laursen was then brought on for SuperPippo and the Game was over...5 man defense beats then everytime, especialy when you have Kaladze, Maldini, Nesta, Laursen and Simic as your 5 defenders, Kaladze and Simic plaayed as Wing Backs, Pirlo pushed up front with Tomasson and Seedorf and Gattauso controled the midfield amazingly.
A great all around team effort....Depor and Bayren....Your next, And Andriy Shevchenko will be back to reform the best strike force on earth!
I expect Milan to play a 3man defence of Maldini, nesta and simci with Sherghinio and Gattauso and wing backs, Rui Costa and Ambrosini in the middle with Rivaldo behind the front two in the hole.

Milan Will bring the Champions League back to it's real home!!

    FORZA MILAN!!

How did you get to see the match?
Milan wont win the Champions League this year, but they have finally gotten a decent team together.
    Took 'em long enough.
But they are in the hardest group and Bayern and Depor are no pushovers.

I hear Real Madrid have a few handy players this year :P

    a few? :p LOL

    I like Milan having spent 6 months in the San Siro the last time they won the Scudetto. But they are hardly CL material;
Maldini - Found Milan Baros too hot to handle
Jon Daol Tommasson - Newcastle reject
    Simic - You are joking
Rui Costa - Ireland 1-0 WC Qualifiers
Andriy Shevchenko - Spurs reject to be
Seedorf - Pale shadow of Edgar Davids

Surely you need not look further than; Real, Bayern, Arsenal and Valencia.

    Qualifiers from that group:
    Bayern Munich
    Deportivo

Simple as that really, what kind of cartoon gets excited over a a win against Lens?

I think Milan will be real Dark Horses this year what with a team with,Rui Costa,Rivaldo,Inzaghi,Maldini,Neasta,Schenevhov(sp),Buffon. If they get their act together a good run in the Champions League is not out of the question.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,503 ✭✭✭Makaveli

    Buffon wtf?
I take it you meant Abbiati?

    Gk: Abbiati, Dida, Fiori

Def: Chamot, Nesta, Maldini, Costacurta, Laursen, Helveg, Kaladze, Simic, Roque Junior

Mid: Ambrosini, Ba, Borcchi, Rui Costa, Dalla Bona, Gattuso, Pirlo, Redondo, Seedorf, Serginho

For: Borriello, Rivaldo, Inzaghi, Shevchenko, Tomasson

Not a bad team like I said.
But not a patch on the side that beat Barcelona 4-0 in the final a few years back.
Wont win the CL this year, top 3 in Serie A, I reckon 2nd maybe.

    Buffon wtf?

    sorry my mistake

Any credence that could possibly have been given to your post fell apart right there.

Milans problem the last few seasons was Defence. Laursen isnt good enough. Now with Nesta and Simic they're finally able to contend with the best of the Italians and the rest of Europe.

Didn't really need Rivaldo but hey I aint complaining.

And come on... they beat Barcelona almost a decade ago! Nobody could stop Milan back then, they were the best in the world and (in my opinion) the best team ever, can't really compare that squad to todays ;]

Oh and Seedorf scored in todays 3-0 win over Perugia (along with Bippo Inzaghi & Maldini).

    GG.

    Yeah I know.
The point is they wont win the CL this season.
Oh and Maldini and Costacurta played in that final I think. :D

Can You smell it yet?? Pippo for Golden boot....without a boubt!
Maldini to lift the CL.....No worries!

What was the score last night lads??
do i have to say any more??
    Depor.....who are they??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,538 ✭✭✭PiE

Hmm.. I'm... not quite sure but I think it was...

    Deportivo 0-4 Milan

    Eat it :P

    Savage result.
    Lovin this AC rivival.
Still think Real own the CL though.

My 3 teams are in the CL if I lose one I still have 2. :D
mmmmm Milan Barce and Liverpool in the semis and it would be heaven for me.

    :)

Brings me back to lovely 4-0 CL final win so many years ago...

    Dejan Savicevic (sp?) lob goodness!

    Milan 2- Bayen 1....my prodection!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 857 ✭✭✭kamobe

If AC play like they did against Deportivo they'll murder Bayern....
But then Bayern have a habit of causing upsets against the supergiants (also known as Real Madrid... :p), so ya never know..

When your good, your good, and SuperPippo is good!
My prediction was right :D... Inzaghi is the most onform player in the world right now, definatly worth every penny of the £17 Milan payed for him last year!
And remember it can only get better......Sheva will be back soon!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,503 ✭✭✭Makaveli

Maximum points, not bad considering the group and the fact that they've played Depor and Bayern away.
But will they **** up in the 2nd group stage? Possibly.

Thats cos Savicevic was the best player. Ever.

    Ahh, memories =*]

    That cup is ours.

Btw, anybody know where I could pick up a longsleeved Milan '93/'94 jersey? Wanna put Savicevic on the back, and the new ones wouldn't do the name justice ;]

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,503 ✭✭✭Makaveli

    I have a shortsleeved one.
With Costacurta or Donadoni on the back cant remember now.
Actually I wonder where that is.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,802 ✭✭✭thegills

Have any of you lads ever sat through 6 months in the San Siro. I lived in Milan when they last won the league. Class stuff. If Arsenal and Real weren't playing so well I'd fancy Milan. I'll still put an e/w bet on them though.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 18,300 ✭✭✭✭Seaneh

No e/w bets!! All on! Milan are back and we are staying on top for a few years to come!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,538 ✭✭✭PiE

    Milan 6-0 Torino

    Another Hattrick for Inzaghi :]

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,772 ✭✭✭Lennoxschips

And they still have Shevchenko to come back too!

The 90s Milan side wasn't as good as the '95 Ajax side. Ajax beat Milan three times in the CL that season. Home & away in the group stage and in the final as well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,538 ✭✭✭PiE

Milan were forced to play their "Home" leg against Ajax in Trieste that season.

That year was the beginning of the end for the team, didnt even make it into CL the following season.

Oh and Savicevic didn't play in that final ;]

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,772 ✭✭✭Lennoxschips

They main man Milan missed in 1995 was Frank Rijkaard, who was playing in his true colours - Ajax.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,538 ✭✭✭PiE

Meh, Rijkaard didn't play in '94 final either, when Milan beat Barcelona.

    Savicevic did! :p

The early 90's Milan side was the greatest club side of all time, Maldini, Costacurta, Franco the great and Rijkaard.....The greatest defence of all time!
Savicevic, Albertini,Lentini and Donadoni...Name a midfield that can rival that?? and up front.......the real "Van the man" Marco Van Basten and and the great Papin.
Subs like Boban, Laudrup, Massaro, Panucci, Bergomi,Simone,Autorete Grandini, and sprinkles of brillance later on with Baggio, Weah, Gullit, Desailly, Di Canio, Stroppa.....every year 1986-1997 A.C. had an amazing squad, but some unlucky seasons!

"With this last hat-trick Superpippo took his tally to 15 goals in nine games this season, 31 in 34 games in a Rossonero shirt, while in the European Cups he has reached 42. Extraordinary figures but Pippo has accustomed us to such records. "

    It's soooo true!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,538 ✭✭✭PiE

    Atalanta 1-4 Milan

And they go clear at the top :]

    Won without Inzaghi btw.

    Scorers: Rivaldo, Dahl Tomasson, Pirlo(2)

    Oh yea :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,503 ✭✭✭Makaveli

Baggio did pretty crappy at Milan.
Injury plauged, he played his best football with Juve.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,538 ✭✭✭PiE

Milan 2-1 Bayern (Serginho & Pippo!)

And, as an added bonus, Juventus lost. Booya.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,538 ✭✭✭PiE

    Chievo 3-2 Milan

How dare these small clubs play out of their skin! ;]

Schevchenko scored on his return though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,538 ✭✭✭PiE

    Milan 1-0 Inter
    Juventus 1-1 Bologna
    Parma 3-0 Roma

W00t, Milan go back top on Goal Diff :]

Arsenal vs Milan final. Is that possible ?

Going back to nostalgia for a sec - remember that goal George Weah scored for them against some lowly Serie A club five or six years back, when he ran the length of the pitch and practically rounded their entire team? Oh maaaan :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,438 ✭✭✭TwoShedsJackson

That was against Verona in 1996, and was possibly one of the greatest goals of all time (behind Van Basten's goal against Russia of course :) )
