I would like to take this opertunity to point out the idea brought up by The Celtic Tiger (hey Rory) a while back, of having a board where all the cencored stuff can be put for viewing at peoples own risk.

Celtic can set up a webboard at www.sitepowerup.com

They pretty much let you post anything as long as no one complains. I don't think the admins want the headache or legal implications of letting people post any old crap.

Surely posting a link no matter where it's to shouldn't be censored. Boards.ie can't be responible for the entire internet for fups sake.

Sorry lads, but as I have said already I cant abide by the slagging of anyone, Jokingly its ok but as the comments grew worse in your post it was easy to see where it was going.

    Amp, you'd be surprised.

Recent legal cases around the world have exonerated ISPs in general for content that they DONT host but not for content they do.
Site owners on the other hand are responsible for their site regardless. Links particularly would fall in the category of "Promotion", you cant just say "hey theres something illegal over there kiddies" its pretty much makes you an accomplice.
The law is stupid but they arent dumb.

So then, was it in fact deRanged's reproduction of some of the sites comments that made you lock the post rather than the posting of the url ? If so fair enough but I will not have my sense of humour dictated to me by anyone.
For the record the sight was a wind up and intended to be funny. Everyone I know that saw it laughed their nads off.
    Lighten up ffs.

I think what DeV was saying is that it WAS the posting of the url that was wrong. It counts as a promotion of the site its linked to (in the technical and legal sense).

And I dont think your humour was in question. Its just these days you have to cover your....uuuh...posterior, since there are so many law suits floating around for the stupidest things. It would be boards.ie that would have the problem and not nebody that posted. Therefore it is understandable that links that might be found in bad taste (a general opinion of the word decided by boards moderators I spose cause we know everyones values differ) would be deleted.

Basically Im saying I wouldnt take too much offence (ummm offense umm whatever) in the links being deleted cause they are just being careful "just in case".

I was refering to montys response rather than devs "it was easy to see where it was going". In fairness he didn't delete the link but rather locked the post.
I was basically just checking whether we were being restricted to the admins sense of humour/taste or if there was a legit reason.
    Nuff said.

No your not restricted to what we think is funny or not, what was posted was in some respects, was degrading in the way that it was posted, fine if you thought that was funny, thats your opinion. But from my point of view as moderator this was unacceptable. You dont see me locking down anything that I dont find funny for no reason whatsoever. That is all I have to say

I'll let you in on a little secret. I think that page was a p1sstake because I know for a fact one of the two pictures didn't orginate from that site (the mother).

It if wasn't though it was in bad taste. smile.gif

The site was a p1sstake, for what it's worth. The pictures were all taken from other sites on the net.

    Ja,
