Anyone here in the mood to test our new "Money down the drain" counter?
It is real time counting the cost of Eircom's "free" Internet packages.
You can access the counter from the home page of www.eircomtribunal.com

What do you make of it? Ideas, suggestions..

    Peter

You might just include a sentence of text explaining how you calculate spend so as people (e.g. journalists are assured you are right/accurate).

That counter is probably the most graphic example of just how we're being screwed in this country.

Make sure the journos launch it while they browse the site. Perhaps David could refer to it next time he's on 106 ;)

    Love it, Peter !!

I suggest making the window a bit bigger, though. It opens with scrollbars and half the counter hidden on my browser (IE6).

Eh are ya not afraid of being sued?

Not when its all 100% true and can be proven in a court of law. If eircom took them to court, they wouldn't have a rats chance of disproving it.

    Sorry... couldn't resist!

Thank you for bringing this to our attention; there was a small problem with the way the script calculated VAT. That's been fixed now.

We've also changed the size of the pop up window slightly. Does it open ok now for you?

ET, You are a sadist! (I must be a masochist keeping your damn pop-up open) :D

OT: Eircon's minimum call charge... is it still based on the first 5 minutes (can't seem to find a straight answer to this on Eircon's site... either that, or I'm "blind")?

    Nobody,

I don't believe the minimum fee is actually time based.

Min fee at the moment is 5.2440c (don't know if this is ex or inc of VAT)across local, 1891 and 1892 numbers. If you access using Eircom Net subscription service you would be paying 1.61c ex VAT per minute so if you stayed on for 5 minutes Eircom would bill you 8.05c. If on the other hand you only stayed on for 2 minutes which would work out at 3.22c, Eircom will bill you the minimum fee of 5.2440c.

    Peter,

Window size from the link on the left column is fine.
Window size from the link in the main body of the page is still opening at the old size.

    Rgds,
    Dave.
