Max Tundra aka Ben Jacobs grew up on an aural diet of 10cc, Nik Kershaw,
The Art of Noise and Gustav Holst. His first forays into music making as a
child (apart from a few abortive piano lessons) were the compilation of
'pause-button' megamixes of the above musical luminaries and others, on his
Mum's midi system (when 'midi' referred to a particular type of all-in-one
domestic hi-fi, as opposed to the language of communication between
computers and musical instruments). At school, he began to embrace the
world of electronic music, by getting a BBC micro to play the tv themes of
the day. He picked up various musical instruments along the way, including a
guitar which he found in a bin in the music room.

He has remixed tracks by kid606, Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliott, Mogwai, The
Monsoon Bassoon, Ruby and has also taken part in a 'physical remix' of
Janek Schaefer, which involved cooking Janek's 'Wow' single under the grill
    and spreading Marmite on it.

Max Tundra returns with his new album "Mastered By Guy At The Exchange" (on
Domino Records). Sounding like a totally different man, MBGATE is Max's
take on pop. First single 'Lysine' (feat. Becky Jacobs) sounds like a number
1 hit (even though Jo Whiley might beg to differ), imagine Timberland on a
Casio. The album features every instrument under the sun, usually on the
same track & amazingly Max played them all himself. What can that boy not
do? The most brightest & freakiest out-pop you'll here this year.
