    Hi i'm new to star wars seen my first one last saturday night on Rte 1, really enjoyed it, how many star wars films were made ? also a little history about the battle against the evil empire would'nt go astray,

    There was 3 made originally

    4 - Starwars - A new hope (1977)
    5 - The empire strikes back (1980)
    6 - Return of the Jedi (1983)

    and now lucas is working on a trilogy prequel.

    1 - the phantom menace
    2 - Attack off the clones
    3 - Not made yet ... should be out in 3 years or so

    Mmmm, and well you should not!

    BTW, The original Star Wars Movie came out in 1977, not 1972.

    Right,
    So when Star Wars: A new hope, was launched, was it called Episode 4 or 1 ? will any sequels ever be made ? Did the jedi eventualy defeat the dark side ?,

    Star Wars was originaly know as just Star Wars but did have EP 4 A New Hope in the opening text. It was later relabeled as Star Wars:A New Hope.

    Lucas did plan on making movies 7, 8 and 9 but changed his mind later :(
