Shared resources in XP and 2000

I'm on an unsafisticated network and because I have the main data base I need to have file and printer sharing. Unfortunately since I've updated to Windows XP My Printers folder and skedualed tasks folder is shared. Can someone tell me how to turn this off? I've noticed the same thing in 2000 so would appreciate a solution…
