Moving to Sutton

I'm leaving the city centre and moving to Sutton on Saturday. There is a grey bin at my new house; I am told that I also can get a green one (not sure from whom), and that collection of the green ones is free of charge. True?

Also, I am told that I have to pay for them to collect from the grey bin or they slap a name-and-shame sticker "you didn't pay" on it. But I heard that I have to buy some kind of sticker every week or something. This sounds pretty insane.

    So what is the story?

    For thine information.

    http://www.dublincorp.ie/wasteinfo/fra_ind.asp?ID=1&PG=was_2.htm

The only exemptions are for social welfare recipients or those on pension.

    http://www.dublincorp.ie/wasteinfo/fra_ind.asp?ID=1&PG=coll_main.htm

I also notice the Corporation website says that
"The "black bag" waste collection system is now being phased out in the Dublin Corporation area and is being replaced with a recycling-based system i.e. Wheelie Bins."

This is great news, I also notice that the Corporation also says
"Glass bottles must be recycled through Bring Centres. Paper, plastic and household batteries may be brought to the Bring Centres"

Hmm I wonder if this means that said refuse will eventually not be collected by the Corporation? I'd love to see that, 'ie' people actually 'having' to do something to protect the environment, I'm sure pressure groups would be formed to avoid the same.

Read those, but it doesn't explain how I pay or whether this thing about me having to buy a sticker weekly and put it on the bin is true or not.

Dublin Corporation will not have much information on this .. twill be Fingal County Council that will know about it more.

From what i know the green bins are collected every month. Most of sutton has the green bins as far as i know.

Thanks for that link. Interesting thing. On Glencarraig we don't have green bins yet but one street over on the Howth road they do. I wrote to FCC to ask when we get the green bins....
