Can anyone suggest places in or around Dublin to fish using a spinning rod and lures (mepps, flying C's, etc)

    Sea, lake, river, anything.

    Thanks in advance.

top of my head-looking out the window-I've caught pollack to 3lbs or so using flying Cs's and kilthy catchers off the East Pier in Howth..
Also plugging for bass near Redrock..or using kilthys again..

In terms of sea fishing have a look at this: -
    http://www.sea-angling-ireland.org/shore%20-%20dublin.htm

You can pick up the odd bass in several of the estuaries around Laytown, Bettystown and in particular Rogerstown to spinning and there is always the possibility of the very odd sea-trout as a bonus. Try the rocks on the Malahide to Portmarnock walk, especially for bass in the sand filled gullies on an incoming tide in the evenings. The east piers in both Howth and Dun Laoghaire will give pollack to red gills and spinners (look at using a red gill on a four foot trace and a 2-3 oz bomb as an alternative for pollack in particular), and believe it or not you can also pick up the odd bass (mackerel and sandeel) off Killiney beach on the spinners. Further afield have a look at Bray Harbour's outer wall and a strip of mackerel on a redgill or spinner might even tempt a big Wrasse.

For lakes and river, presumably we are looking at pike and perch, and your best bet is the lakes in Wicklow around Blessington, especially if you have a pair of waders - jack pike up to 8 lbs will have moved into the shallow weedy (and warmer) lake and river margins in the last few months and are still there, the only problem is the vast amount of weed you will pick up on the spinner. Try using a floating or slow sinking Rapala lure but I was piking yesterday on a local river and the recent rain has fed them too well - it also works best at dawn and dusk, certainly in Mayo.

    FWIW...

You are less likely to get snagged either side of high tide to half water..seems to be better fishing too..
