    House mate watches it all the time and owns a bundle of the box sets. I still don't understand the appeal though, apart from a bouncy SMG jumping all over the place, and even that gets a bit old. An average buffy episode will have a monster needs killing, a threat to one of the Buffsters mates and Buff twatting the living twat outta said evil demon/worm man. Find it a bit repetitive will only watch it if I can't get off the couch coz I am too pished and the remote control is outta reach.

    <biased>

    Best show on TV. Great writing, great characterisation, and some classic comedy moments </biased>

    I think people are fairly put off by the silly title (which I was - was told about it by an american friend and I laughed). If you watch a bit, and begin to read into it it can become really addictive.

    And yes I'm one of those nerds who sits there trying to spot the continuity references

    Before someone suggests banning Deco, he got done by accident.

    I'll ring him right now to get him to dump it.

    Else someone mod it, if he don't get there first.

    I prefer Angel. :)

    Last season and the season before showed the creative people behind the show really putting in an effort. Fair play for that.

    I have been BIGGEST Buffy fan since the very beginning. I own every single one of the box sets, that's (Season's 1 - 6 complete), and spent approx £500 on them, over 2.5 years.

    I will admit if you watch buffy episode by episode it can be quite repeditive, but the true Buffy fan knows better than that. The actual slaying part is a tiny fraction of the story line. Joss Whedon(sp?) is a legend, and I would love to get inside that man's head. Take for example the episode that was on Sky One this evening. Final Episode of Season 4 (the dreams). Just after returning from defeating Adam, they sit to watch some vids in the gaff, and fall asleep. The epsiode is based around Willow's, Gile's, Xander's and Buffy's dreams. The most striking thing about this episode is how Joss captured the dreamstate, and the various unexplainable transitions that occur whilst one is dreaming. Dreams and the subconcious is not elimentry to the Buffy storyline at this point, taking Faith & Buffy sharing a dream unconcious in hospital during season 3. In that dream faith told Buffy "..Little Miss Muffet, Counting Down From 730..". What did that mean. To a non buffy fan that was just dramatisation post a fight scene. But to the people that actually "watch" as opposed to "see" it, would know that Faith was reffering to Dawn, and 730 is (365 * 2), (365 days in a year), and lo and behold 2 seasons later we have buffy's new sister Dawn.

    Stuff like that IMO, really makes the trivial Soaps, involving nosy neighbours, unfaithful couples, and general backstabbing, look like pants, that drag along at a "I'll make tea then" pace.

    Taking what I've said in to consideration, people that like buffy tend to watch it for the the overall brilliant storyline as opposed to spiradic fight scenes.

    And of course we can't forget the musical episode
    ...THEY GOT THE MUSTARD OUUUUUUUUUUUT!" (sheer Brilliance :))

    ;-phobos-)

    Serrard, that Ep was nominated for an Emmy, great piece of screenwriting.

    Ive been a fan of buffy since the first series (Came for the babes, stayed for the production values). I think its nearing the end of its lifecycle now, the last series was weaker than previous years. Still, it kicks anything else in the genre to touch.
