I had a question on this board about http://www.discounthotelreservation.org/ a while back.

Well the hotel reservation worked a dream. What great value. I got 3 nights B and B for 2 people in a 3 star hotel in the center of Brussels, close to the Grand Place for 140 euros. The price per night quoted at reception was 115 euros per night plus 8.50 euros each for breakfast, a saving for me of 256 euros.

Brussels is a lovely city well worth a visit for anyone who hasn’t been.

The cherry on the cake for us was that we got tickets (for 15 euro, face value outside the stadium, even though it was sold out 8 weeks previous) for the IAAF Golden League meeting at the King Baudouin stadium.

    Great 3 days……..

    Hey..

That's cool - sounds like you had a great time :) Is there anything in particular that you would recommend seeing?

I'm going to Brussels for a few days with my boyfriend the week after next - it seems to be a cheap place to get to and stay in.. altogether our trip is costing us about 180 euro :)

loads of getter sites then Brussels and cheaper in Belgium.
don't forget that belgium is so small that you can get everywhere with the train within 2 hours :)

what i suggest you visit is 'brugge' for its most decorative city..
(there is a law in belgium that you can not change the appearance of your house if it's more then so '?' many years old, gives you a very authentic feel of the Traffice free inner-city.

Or go to Ghent for a nice and relaxed day out and check out the museum of arts..always something interresting there.

for shopping goto 'Antwerpen' or 'Antwerp', more shopping stores then the credit card can handle, Antwerp is our designers capital. Has a little chinatown and the national Zoo.

train tickets are ok in price.

well i am off to thailand ! bye

    If you are interested in visiting the sites in Brussels I would suggest to take the open top tour bus. It costs 12.5 euro and the ticket lasts for 48hrs. The best thing is to stay on the bus for the full tour which lasts about 1.5hrs and then decide which places to get off the 2nd time around. Things not to miss are;
Atomium (tour bus or metro to get here).
Mini Europe (tour bus or metro to get here, same area as the Atomium).
Also the Manakeen Piss (this little statue has a costume change each day).
Of course you have to see the Grand Place (can just fag out with a beer or coffee and watch the world go by).

You need prior consent to visit any of the European Commission buildings, but generally there is lots to see

There is also an info center on one of the side streets near the Grand Place, and they have a booklet which contains walks that you can do in your own time.

We found the food to be the same price as here. The beer is dear and the wine is very expensive. Also you have to try the waffles that are sold on the streets.

Have a good time and let use know how you got on.
