Hello, I would like to automate a backup of a MySQL DB on my website about once a day. I would like to copy the data to another server. Hi Kappar,

Option a:
Grab something like http://worldcommunity.com/opensource/utilities/mysql_backup.html

Option b:
Write a simple shell script along the lines of

mysqldump -uUsername -p dbname > dbname.sql
ftp ftp.yourremoteserver.com -uUsername -p
put dbname.sql
exit

And run it daily. (see something like http://www.faqts.com/knowledge_base/view.phtml/aid/1005/fid/436 for more on how cron and crontab work)
