I'm not in contact with the best friend I ever had anymore, but I have two best friends right now, one is a guy i've known for about four years and I can tell him anything, he always looks out for me and he's generally a nice guy. We like the same music, have similar sense of humour and can just chat about ****e. There's never ever been any sexual tension between us (at least that i've noticed!) which always gets in the way of m/f friendships.

The other is my housemate, because she's hilarious, and smart, and again looks out for me. And i've only known her less than a year. That's kind of a weird one, because we don't really like the same music or have the same interests, but we still get on well.

It's hard to exactly define why someone is your best friend. I guess, if they aren't holding you back, if they make you laugh, and don't bore the pants off you would be some reasons.

oh and etho, having the same taste in anything is not how friendships work. its more about having the same personality types. people just bounce of each other sometimes and enjoy each others company.

but how do you define a best friend?
is it someone you feel comfotable telling your childhood abuse stories to, or is it someone you talk rubbish with down the pub.

if you tell someone a secret theres an instant bonding that goes on. you both share something that no-one else knows about. does that mean they are now your best friend?
by the way, thats a great way to get someone interested in you.
tell them a secret, just dont overload it
so what about you monkey, generally if you put something up youre expected to give your own opinion.

Well, wankstainman, since you asked for nicely, my best friend is a guy I've known for about 6 years now, met him on a summer job when I was on break from College. Every time we meet up, we buzz off each other, very compatible personalities, similar tastes, if getting advice off each other we listen to it and not just take it at face value, he's interested in his career as am I (interested in my own, that is). Been on holidays together too, not one single falling out over the two weeks there.
And no, we're not a gay couple.
By the way, if you don't like the Slumberparty, P.I.S.S off then.
And "no pain, no gain"...I guess thats what your wife is thinking each morning when she wakes up beside you?
