12 Nations want Bio Weapons: Expanding EVILAXIS

    SMOKE 'EM OUT!!!

The U.S. State Department's top arms control official said Tuesday the United States believes more than a dozen countries, including Iraq and North Korea, are pursuing biological weapons.

The United States does not need a "new resolution by the United Nations Security Council" when it attacks Iraq to unseat Saddam Hussein, U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage said

    US expands 'axis of evil'
The US adds Cuba, Libya and Syria to its 'axis of evil', claiming they want to develop weapons of mass destruction.

Will this contribute to the war on terror or just increase the anti-America that spans more than half way across the globe?

Speaking at a lecture meeting in John Bolton, undersecretary of state for arms control and international security, said, "Unrepentant rogues such as (Iraqi President) Saddam Hussein continue to seek illegal weapons to sow massive destruction on civilian targets...Iran, Libya, Syria and North Korea are also pursuing these illegitimate and inhumane weapons."

Only last week President Bush was describing himself as a patient man when it comes to Iraq. On Monday his Vice-President sounded anything but patient.

In what has been widely seen here in the US as the most forceful case yet for ousting Saddam Hussein, Vice-President Dick Cheney gave the impression there was no time to lose.

Why wait, he argued, until the Iraqi leader had nuclear weapons with which to dominate the Middle East at which time it would be more difficult to form a coalition to topple him.

    Dissent in the ranks

For pro-war Republicans, the Vice-President's speech was a breath of a fresh air.

For them it signalled a welcome fightback against the recent torrent of more dove-like counsel from inside the party establishment

.Lawyers in the White House have concluded that US President George W. Bush does not need the consent of the Congress to launch a military strike against Iraq.

    .
.According to the Washington Post newspaper, the lawyers say the president's authority to act alone comes from his constitutional role as Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces
    .
Alex Van Vell in Washington says this is a shrewd tactical move on the part of President Bush's advisers, which is seen as an attempt to avoid being subject to lawmaker's consent.

But the move comes as several prominent Republicans have warned of the dangers of a military strike on Iraq, amid signs of growing dissent on the issue within Mr Bush's party

US defence secretary Donald Rumsfeld has said the US will strike alone against Iraq if necessary.

Speaking to 3000 Marines at Camp Pendleton, north of San Diego, he said: "It is less important to have unanimity than it is to be making the right decisions
