well, the thing of it is Samson, anything I have learned, I learned phonically! my tenses are non-existant and I can't spell worth a sh*t! I can swear like a trooper or chat you up no problem, but that's about it. :(

...is there a branch of l'Alliance Francaise up there in the "big shmoke"? There's one here in Galway, and they offer pretty good lessons (I'm told... I've only ever gone to the table quizzes ;) )

There is indeed, and was considering it alright.
    Anyone any experience with them?

Yeah I went there. They were alright I suppose. I didnt do the intensive classes, I just went to keep up my French. I've heard the intensive classes are good though.

Yes, Alliance Francaise are very good for advanced courses.
    All fully-qualified native French teachers.

Are they not expensive? I studied before in a school on Eden quay. It was one class per week and ok.

Can anyone recommended any schools in the south of France, Nice or Cannes for week long intensive classes? Thinking of going there in the autumn. Emailed a few places like 'language international' and am getting quotes for $460 for the week excl accommodation.
