Well in case the entire subject line doesnt make it ill repeat the question.

Whats the reality of putting your Dish on a window and moving it yourself?.

As in just plonking it up on the window sill and moving it around to see what satellites you can receive.

Now if its a mini dish i realise it would be hard to test this theory in terms of what i could receive because most satellites would need more than a small dish like that to get their signal, but if anyone can answer that question id be happy to know.

Secondly the obvious possibility of getting an 80 cm dish and moving it around.

Ok an explanation, fixing another dish top the building where im living is impossible, getting a motorised system is probably way too expensive, so just as a hobby i want to mess aorund with a digital receiver i have that is not a Sky box and just mess around and see what i can get. On the same subject what are you looking at for a motorised system.

Ok very long thread, look forward to hearing from you.

Have a look here - http://www.analoguesat.co.uk/ and, when the front page opens, ignore the music and click on the Enter in the centre of the screen.

Then scroll down the blue menu bar on the left to Painting and hiding dishes.

Click on that and, when it opens, scroll down - you'll see it IS possible - the dish looking through a (lead free) glass window, a digiglobe or a rock!

Interesting site. The guy pictured painting the dish in black and white won "Satellite installation of the year" for his efforts.

    Very interesting link.

Love the guy who stuck the fibreglass rock (looking like a big snowball) over his dish:D

That 'rock' is a genuine (American - where else) product. $299 or thereabouts IIRC from another forum.
