I do. In fact, nearly everyone in Galway City has, but because we have to. We have three bins now, gray for landfill, brown for compost, and green for recyclables.

I take it that the brown bin is collected like the rest of the waste or do you use the compost urself?.
And if is collected, what happens to it.

I dont understand why they dont introduce the same scheme all over the country as they have in Galway. Granted thet after a party with 20 people that sorting it would not be desirable but recycling is not supposed to be fun, its a necessity I also do not believe there is enough recycling facilities around the country and where there are they are not signposted like a swimming pool or a theatre. I was living in an area for 6 months before finding out there were recycling bins just around the corner.

yeah I have one. And I use the compost out of it. the bin collection charges here in Laois are astronomical €400 and odd I think (dont quote me on it) a year. We have no recycling facilities apart from one about 30 km away so you destroy the ozone or atmosphere or whatever driving to it to do your bit for the environment :( .

Hi, I don't have a composting bin, where can i buy one ? also dosen't i take like a year to compost ?? or is their some chemicals i can use to speed up the process ? i also think its a great idea this compostin if every body done it it would stop thousand of tonnes of waste going into landfill every year,

I got mine from my local county council. Yes it does take ages for it to compost. I think you can use comfrey or someother natural product to make it compost faster. I paid about IR£20- 25 for mine.
