Deflector systems? I thought these were dead and gone or is this like pirate radio, its supposed to belong to a bygone era?.

When I lived on the Old Kilmeaden Road we got our hazy UK
channels from Harristown. Bloody S4C!

weren't they given a license until when DTT gets going?

thankfully S4C is only an option now unlike before :)

What I cannot understand with the deflectors is why they don't seem to follow the normal channel groupings that the normal transmitters use. With the close exception of Comeraghs-Coummahon, there isn't the usual pattern that channel groupings have. Why is this?

i don't have any idea but maybe they take whatever they can get

Antenna, Dunmore East broadcast Granada on channel 55 and not HTV

At a guess I would say, that since they were at the start using presely for their feed, they kept well away from it's B group when deflecting.
laterly, they would have had to avoid the various TV3/TG4 uhf's.
Since a lot of them these days use Digiboxes, theres less need to avoid interfering with their presely source, a tidy up though would be too messy now that most of the users have wide band grids anyhow.

Last time I looked, 55 from Dunmore East was HTV Wales, though that was when it was still sourced from Presely. Took down the aerial when ITV came onto sky so dont know what is there now.

it's definately Granada now. they've hijacked it from the Sky Dodgybox

Channel 5 now seems to have taken the place of Channel 4 from Dunmore East on ch.69 . is this permanent or has someone put it on by accident?
