How do you rid a car of a puke smell???

My Friend's Car Smells Like The GPO nightclub in Galway ....

He was out for a couple of pints on Wednesday night, but ended up going hardcore — having a rake of pint bottles of bulmers and then super-pints and got to bed at around 5am.

He went to work that morning and wasn't feeling very well, so at lunchtime, he went to get his car from the Market Street carpark. He got stuck in a traffic jam between the exit of the car park and the street and got the hot flushes.

Spotting a squad car in the traffic jam and knowing full well he was over the limit, he couldn't really puke out the door, so the only place for him to barf was .... yes, you guessed it, on the floor on the passenger side of the car! Now his car smells like the GPO, I swear to God. Close your eyes and you wouldn't know the difference.

He's tried washing the floor, disinfecting it with savlon, used Shake'n'Vac as well as that 1001 carpet mousse, Fabreze, Lynx deoderant and air fresheners and you can still smell the puke. Anyone any ideas how to get rid of the smell apart from getting it valeted.

The perfect case for always keeping a plastic bag in your car ..... LOL

get a big bag of onions squash them up and leave them in the car for a while.
It will get rid of the pukey smell....there might be a slight hint of onion in the car afterwards.

Yeha, onions should do the job, useful when painting a room too, they absorb the polutants in the air.

    Thank God for onions

Yes but once my mother put an onion underneath the coatrack in our house when she was painting the coat room and for at least a month afterwards my coat smelt of onions :)

IIRC, my folx have used baking powder on a number of occasions when transporting car-sick-prone kids.

Unfortunately, I could be getting confused between it and baking soda, but I'm pretty sure I got the right one.

how could he be over the limit at lunch time if he stopped drinking at 5am? drink is gone from your system 5 hours later

i think that ripping up the carpet the passenger side is best option

My aul pair own a taxi(hackney?) biz, so i`ve spent a fair few sundays get ris of puke.

    Here`s my top tips(tm)

    Open all doors/windows

Clean up as much of the superficial puke as you can

Get scouring brush(hard bristled scrubbing head), and basin of warm water with some flash bleach type liquid mixed >> and scrub like a bitch.

Jobs done, a few sprays of air freshner and you`re sorted.

    Money(at least 15/20 punt - i`m too graceful to clean ne more:p)
    personal items - watches/jewellery
    clothes - uaually jackets/coats/tops/footie gear

insure the car for more than it worth with f & theft
& bring it up to belfast next marching season

you will never get the smell out thats why taxi men don't wash
    its like a competition

l3rian —_alcohol leaves your system in 5 hours does it?? Don't make me laugh. Ask any guard or doctor how long drink can stay in your system for after a night out. The less sleep you get, the more alcohol will remain in your body, becaude your liver doesn't break down as much.

Why do you think Gardai have checkpoints during the morning and daytime at Christmas — because of people out the night before.

I actually know of a guy who was done for drink driving the afternoon after a session (and it was a good oul session like that last Wednesday night), he was tested on the intoxalyzer, which registered 33mg of alcohol per 100ml of breath = a six month ban. (There is no six month ban if you provide a urine or blood sample).

Anyhoo, getting back to the smell of puke, he gave me a lift last night. He's cleaned the floor again, but the car is still mingin'!!!!

You might not be even the slightest bit 'drunk', but you're still well over the limit

Olibas oil gets rid of smells very well, get some and put that onto the passenger side floor with some boiling water. Works a charm on sour milk anyway

72 hours it takes for alcohol to completly leave your system. That isn't to say you'll be drunk for 72 hours, but there are traces of it.

Yeah, alcohol leaves your system at roughly 1 unit/hour. Depends on how good your liver is at breaking it down. 1 pint = 1 1/2 (?) units, so go out and have 10 pints and you can expect it to be dinnertime the next day before you're *actually* sober.

Tell him to bite the bullet and get his car valeted. Tell the cleaner that one of his mates puked in the car, etc etc. They're the pros at getting pukie smell out.

    baking soda does the trick.
Was on a boat once and got sick all over the shop while playin virtua soccer.
Some guy came along anyways and doused it with baking soda. Was left there at least until the next morning anyways.
Thats probably why all boats smell of **** ??!?!!
