    Hi,

I’m thinking about going to the states, new york to be precise. Last year a few of me mates went to the states and had a blast, but that was just a summer thing and no-one is prepared to go over to work now or the near future... I was’nt able to go over last year because of other issues, but I’ve always had an urge to go over, and the ever increasing fleesing of the irish public by things like VRT, Car Insurance, Tax and Internet access speed and pricing is only pushing me away faster

I don’t have any major tie downs at the mo, no bird (sorry, female companion !), no house etc and I’m only 21, so I guess if I was to do anything like this, now would be the time. The thing is that I’ll be going over on my own, and am worried about things like finding accomadation, job etc. I’d like to find and make some m8’s and was wondering how to go about it... my ideas included first, getting and sharing an apartment with a number of ppl....

Would be great if I could get some advice or links to some Emigration advice companies ;)

make sure u have a visa if ur staying more than 90 days, check out the US Embassy site in Ireland.
Since your young and no real ties, u could have a bit of a problem getting a temporary visa. so my suggestion would be to go over for 90 days..check it out..see if u like it, maybe have a peek at a job or two. If u do something that u like, that would help in getting ur visa to live and work there, e.g a company in NY wants to employ u then they can pay for ur visa, or sponsor u or something, theres lots of options for it. NY sounds great, ive been to Chicago and im going back for another 3 months in September, so hope it works out for u :)
