Just thought I'd share my first SubD model attempt. Next to surface it and find some pictures of the interior so I can model that also.

Its a Nissan 300ZX BTW. This forum is quiet. Pity there arnt more 3D artists posting in here.

    hmm
    im a 3d artist, sorta,

i do a small bit, im learning maya, i know blender3d..
what did you do that in?? what renderer also. Did you use HDR or GI? Great model, but it must be said wayy to many people model cars... I dont see the big deal.
Did/are you in college? if so, which course?
Yea theres not many 3d ppl here, or even 2d for that matter, its mostly web/graphic designers.

    anyways keep posting.

the model looks nice but textures are a bit bland :/

Cool how did you do that? With NURBS or what?

It was modelled and rendered in Lightwave7.5. Yes its nurbs or subdivision surfaces in lightwave. Its not even textured which is why it looks bland - ie matt. It is lit using HDRI. I'm not in college. I'm a hobbyist. Must dash flight to Dublin to catch!

That looks class. Renderer is sweet. Did you use radiosity?

Sorry for the brief reply b4. Was rushing to catch a flight! Yes its rendered using a HDRI image i.e. a radiosity render using a lighting image. Its my first attempt at a Nurbs/SubD model and a car is a popular choice because it lends itself so well to this type of modelling ( a head being another popular subject). I have to model the lights and the rear of the car still. I have no referance pictures of the interior of the car so will have to wait a while till I can do that (a friend in clare has two of them). Then I'll texture it with gradients and fresnel effects to make it all shiny loike!

Youz really should be using Lightwave you know. Such a great modeller :)

Looks sweet. Don't forget to post again when you've it finished.

BTW wiensta, don't graphic designers qualify as 2-D artists? :)

Nice, warden (Long time no see btw, back from oz then? :))

Have you considered converting it into a grand theft auto 3 model? Apparently ZModeler supports gta3's .dff format now.

Well no more work to be done till I get my hands on referance photos but heres a quick post of a shiny type render and wireframe for those of you who are curious.

    WOW
    Thats well l33t!! :)
You know any good tutorials for high poly modelling? I make low ploy weapons for cs but i'd love to be able to do something like that. I use 3d studio max 3.1 btw.

Well I aint much good with 3Dmax myself - never had the patience. Does 3dmax3 have good Nurbs modelling tools? Nurbs and learnig to model in quads (foursided polys) is the best way to make high polygon models. Well... low poly ones that look high poly. Modelling stuff is easy if you have good referance photos and lots of patience. Get Lightwave :)
