My parents were seperated for over 20years,my mam wanted to re-marry so she went into a place in dublin city and got a couple of sets of papers(Free).I re-wrote them out to the letter on Pc,just adding my dads name and my mams and address etc.Printed out three copies and my mam brought them back into the place where she got them and got them stamped, one for my mam, dad, and courts.

My mam sent papers in and 3months later they got court date and hey presto,Divorced. There was no money hassles between them and no other objections which made it much easier.I saved my mam a lot in long run. Will get the name of place if needed.

Afaik, the law in Ireland states that a couple must be seperated for 4 of the preceeding 5 years. This allows for an attempt at reconciliation in this time.

If you and your ex have an amicable seperation agreement. And if all financial issues, such as maintainance payments, shared savings, debts and property have been concluded, then the DIY divorce may be your best option. They tend to be the cheapest and fastest.

However if you and your ex have disputed financial issues, then you should each contact a solicitor. While you wait for your divorce to finalise you should also consider making a will so that any assets will transfer to the person/s of your choice rather than your ex in the event of your death. Good Luck.
