Im not sure if this is the right place to ask but here goes...

If a person is convicted of a crime and is sent to prison for x amount of years. Does the person or persons who the crime is / was commited against have the right to know / to ask (for their own piece of mind) when they (the prisoner) will be released / or if they have already been released?

Thank you in advance for you help.
