K you know on some site when you click on an image and a new box opens out thats easy np there but it seems to be not a new window (even though in some cases it is just with tool bars hidden) Cant really explain it. If any one can understand that well just let me know k.

does it only work with ie explorer? if so is there any other alternatives similar in type. or as close as can be expected for netscape (shudder) etc

Do you mean a popup window?
If so it's just a bit of Javascript.. but to be honest I'm not sure I really understood your question
