yeah, it kicks ass. (chorus powernet)

no, i still dont know of ANYONE to get dsl from either esat or eircom...i think its bs...im waiting for a call back on 4 address' registered over 4 months ago.

but if you live in limerick and u can see keeper hill, then why do you care about dsl? powernet is better and faster (and probably gonna be more reliable untill they get it tested)

Pity it doesn't stretch as far as shannon though, it fades out around the limerick inn (Raddisons now)... :(

It says here that ADSL is available to some companies in the limerick region, What number did you ring Drazhar? Try 1800 924 924.

Unfortunately, AFAIK, Chorus are not doing any more residential installations of Powernet, just commercial ones. I applied to them in June 2001 to get Powernet installed at home and despite being told that contracts were being posted, I never heard another thing from them. Having said that, I've heard the service is fairly ok.

NOT TRUE! Chorus will install into a residence, but they will charge the standard business rate. It still is cheaper than eircom or esat per month, and no cap (afaik).

Can't fault them for charging more, eircom came in and set the standard, so they upped there rates ... why should they offer a better service for less money?

I have ESAT DSL at work in Limerick City centre. And yes it kicks ass:) It has a 20:1 contention but given that they have so few users that is not a problem.

Now I only wish I could get it at home, which is highly unlikely as I live in the sticks between Shannon and Ennis :D

I wonder if you asked them for a commercial connection, but told them that your office was in your house/was our house??
Anyway, it looks like i'll be going for the powernet thingie when i get back to limerick

No, Keeper Hill is about 15k outside Limerick on the way to Nenagh - it's off on the right hand side of the road, lots of TV aerials and masts on top of it. Chorus broadcast their MMDS TV service from the top of it.

Oh, and you need to be within 20kms of the top of it and also have line of sight to be in with a chance of getting Powernet.

You'll have to try something like that because they've taken it off the residential section of their website (www.chorus.ie). It's now only listed amongst the services they supply to commercial entities.
