Puzzle No.18

Paladin

Monty staggered out of a pub after a hard nights pi$sup and managed to crawl to st.stevens green. He fell into a circular pool (kinda a fountain thing) which was cleverly hidden to him up till then.
He started crawling on his hands and knees from where he got in, due south for 6 metres, before he banged his beautiful head on the pools edge. Undaunted he turned due east and crawled another 8 metres before he once again banged his head (this head banging could explain a lot of his jokes ).
Monty realised his much needed beauty sleep bekoned (actually it was the bangarda dragging him ou by the uuh, hand) and got out of the pool.

The question is....
How much did Monty have to drink, and what was it?

And as a bonus... what was the diameter of the pool?

as it was a right angled triangle, the hypotinuse is the diameter.

since 6 sqaured plus 8 squared equals 100 and 100 square rooted is 10....
