If we were all going to die in a year

Apoligies if this has been asked before, but I can't see it if it has.

What if we were told we'd all die in roughly a year? (asteroid or something practically unstoppable like that) What would we all do? How would civilisation cope with it, how would we prepare?

Would everyone just give up and have wars/sex for a year, or would we continue as we are until the end?

fact is, we'd never be told, as its explained in armageddon, we'd end our exsistance horrible. people would stop working, no food unless you can grow it, no law unless its in your own hands, religious outbreak ect..

although they say there's an asteroid headed straight for earth in 2016..

I'd say you're right. fairly good description of what would probably happen. wouldn't be too nice. don't know what i'd do. probably end up dead before the end of the world.

The first thing I'd do is light a cigarette, even though I've never smoked.

I'd finally express my true feelings to a person thats close to me and is one of my best friends.

I'd try and become more enlightened about the world too, I think lots of people will. Many will panic like mad. I'm sure others will have some massive 12months until judgement day parties.

God will become popular again. The nicer more caring gods will probably be the most sought after ones.

Some people will seriously lose it. No doubt whole countries will probably lose the plot and nuke each other.

Considering the last couple of posts it doesn't take a PhD to figure out why the people in black suits keep such intelligence to small numbers. Personally I don't think suck knowledge is safe in the hands of the average citizen. People would probably develop a "fukit" attitude, and the whole system would collapse. This is not a good thing, and would not help matters.

Personally I would just like to continue what I'm doing (continue with my daily contributions to the system), but probably start to appreciate friends and relatives a little more. Perhaps it would be a good time to make piece with a relative you haven't spoken to in a while, I dunno.

It's an interesting question, but ones like this usually provoke me to ramble off it to large posts, encompasing theology & philisophy. I'm very tempted, but I better not.

you been watching the outer limits(there was an episode where one guy found out the world would en,no-one else know,only high ranking business ppl and government officials)

I'd like to think I live my life in a sort of 'ah fukit, ya only live once' fashion already. The only thing that stops me from doing whatever I want to is normally money. And even now I'm working on that being no longer an issue.

So I suppose I'd just continue on as I am, being extra careful to pay closer attention to what the nutters around me are doing.

I'd get seriously involved in class A drugs, crime and skiiing. I'd also have lots of meaningless relationships and try generally to finish my Big list of things to do before I die list.

The best thing they could do if they found out the world was going to end would be to make provisions to save as many people as possible, then tell everyone what's going to happen, and allow everyone to compete for the spaces in the underground shelter of whatever in a kind of mass battle royale tournament, bring everyone who wants to compete to a huge island/country/continent, and air drop some weapons in, last X number of people alive get into the shelter....... that'd be fun.

I love that episode..i preferred the one where the aliens send a wav file that when played, made people addicted to it and changed their skin into scaly green. And at the end, the sun becomes a blue dwarf,rather then a yellow one

Fact is, we'd be sitting down watching an emergency announcement about our potassium iodine tablets, and at the end they'd state "oh and by the way, an asteroid is going to hit into the cneter of russia in about 26minutes. It weighs over 8billion tonnes and is 3 and a half miles long in diametre. happy holidays!"

Well firstly id organize a series of parties or house parties, inviting lots of ladies and whats a better thing to get em in the mood than the end of the world?:) Then i would go on a serious bender(as you would thats standard procedure when civilization is about to end)and do a **** load of hash and finally do as many extreme sports as possible over the space of the next year.
