I'm personally not looking forward to (yet another) Austin Powers flick. I don't intend seeing it in the cinema, but it has enough of a fan base to (at some point) have me landed in front of it with no escape. I know enough people that enjoyed the first two, while I sat there in disgust watching a guy putting on an annoying English accent, and some terribly obese Scottish bugger.
    from Wayne's World 2
So there, I am, in Sri Lanka, formerly Ceylone, at about 3 O'clock in the morning, looking for one thousand brown M&Ms to fill a brandy glass, or Ozzie wouldn't go on stage that night. So, Jeff Beck pops his head 'round the door, and mentions there's a little sweets shop on the edge of town. So - we go. And - it's closed. So there's me, and Keith Moon, and David Crosby, breaking into that little sweets shop, eh. Well, instead of a guard dog, they've got this bloody great big bengal tiger. I managed to take out the tiger with a can of mace, but the shopkeeper and his son... that's a different story altogether. I had to beat them to death with their own shoes. Nasty business, really, but sure enough I got the M&Ms, and Ozzie went on stage and did a great show.
Now that's comedy. Myself and plastic membrane, can't socialise without bringing up that one, at some point on every drinking session. It's a must ;)

Oh jesus, I just spotted this one as well. Christ that movie is a legend
    from Wayne's World 2
Del Preston: Woodstock? That was quite a show, man.
Garth Algar: You were at Woodstock?
Wayne Campbell: Excellent! What was it like?
Del Preston: It rained all morning, and then it cleared up in the afternoon. And that's it, I almost remembered something else, but it's gone.
    ;-phobos-)

    WW by a long way.

Standing at Piccadilly Circus with a few mates, you can't but say "hey, man, what a ****ty circus"

    "Hey, who's the old lady?"
    "Oh, that's my old lady"
    :D

Okay I'm definately going to jump right ontop of the bandwagon here coz Waynes World kicked serious ass, but I think, like Austin Powers he should have said "Wow what a great movie, so good I shouldn't ruin it with a sequel" but he did twice. Don't get me wrong in WW2 I love the part with the drive through window. But the Foxy Lady part in the 1st was hysterical and the alternate endings, like the Scooby Doo ending: "And I would have gotten away with it if it weren't for you pesky kids".

"Now these babies tend to heat up so fire in three second bursts, in the event of capture cyanide capsules will be distributed to be placed under the tongue like so"

    Classic, also

"Guy at Diner: You're putting on a concert, thats good, people need a distraction, I wish I could have five minutes of peace, away from the voices in my head, Why do they come to me to die? Why do they come to me to die?"

    "Wayne: So who's playing tonight?
    Bouncer: The ****ty Beatles
    Wayne: Are they any good?
    Bouncer: No, they suck
Wayne: So its not just a clever name then"

not just going against public opinion here, but i think austin powers is a lot better.
besides, whats not to like about that funky themetune??

and how can you not roll in the aisles crying at the whole jerry springer scene. or the zip-it scene, oh the laughing...

mind you, i also think 'so i married an axe murder' is better than both put together.

I'd vote for Wayne's world because over the 2 movies it's had more consistant quality. AP2 was utter rubbish and a real letdown after the first one. I'm not even going to bother go see Goldmember.

BTW I've got a question about a line from Waynes world. At some point during the movie he says 'I once thought I had mono but it turned out that I was just really bored'. Not being an expert on mono (or vd's in general) Can someone explain this joke to me?

For overall consistancy I think the Austin Powers films were best but Waynes World 2 was the best individual film.

Mono(tone)... constantly speaking in the same tone of voice.

    Wayne's World was better.

There is some bad red rope liquorish circulating in the crowd"

Definitely Waynes World, both of them.
Though i would agree with WWM, Axe Murderer is a better film than the lot. Loved it!

TBH it's a tricky enough choice, but I'd have to go for Wayne's World out of venerability. That and the fact that WW2 is a hell of a lot better than AP2. A time-proven classic.
