Mozilla 1.0 and KDE2 - clipboard issues

    Hi folks,

No idea if this board is alive or dead, but it seems a sensible place to ask this question...

I've moved my laptop over to using Linux as a primary OS, and am having a few odd little problems with functionality. This is very much a work machine - the main apps I use are KWord, Mozilla, KMail, Everybuddy and the Gimp, although I occasionally use Staroffice, KVirc and various other bits and bobs as well.

Now, the problems I'm having are twofold, and both involve Mozilla (running version 1.0).

First, I can't copy and paste from other apps into it. I write stuff in KWord and upload it to my websites through a browser, and this works fine with Konqueror - I can copy paste perfectly happily from other KDE apps into that. However, Mozilla seems incapable of reading from the KDE clipboard, and I can't paste anything into it - not even URLs. Yes, I've got the right thing selected in Klipper.... Suggestions?

The other problem I have is with clicking on links. I've so far been unable to find a way to make Mozilla the default handler for all URLs, and even where I've hardcoded the Mozilla command line into various apps (like KVirc) I can't seem to make them just open a new Mozilla browser window - they try to relaunch the app which then complains about the current profile being in use.

Solutions to either of these problems would be appreciated. Suggestions that I should move to BSD/Redhat/Slackware/Outer Mongolia will be ignored, and the poster cast into outer darkness. :)

not too sure about your links problem but as for the clipboard...

KDE is a tightly integrated desktop environment. So naturally all of the KDE apps will allow you to copy, cut and paste from one to the other; hence Kword and Konqueror both playing nice together.

But Mozilla is just a bog standard X program, without any fancy KDE extensions. So it wouldn't make use of KDEs clipboard.

There is a standard Xwindows clipboard system which might be a better option, take a look at the man pages for
xclipboard and xcutsel, this should let you copy and paste from the KDE apps into mozilla or any other X programs.
