kinda ahrd to say why it wasn't great without loads of spoilers... but i suppose i could try...

DONT READ ON IF U DONT WANT TO KNOW!!

General story:- year is 2020 Dragons have appeared out of nowhere the wolds military tried to kill em off but did more damage then good. Movie revolves around a group of people living in a castle north of London. they are starving and only just holding on. In comes Mathew McConaughey who has flown a couple of hundred men, tanks and helicopters over from the states to hunt down and kill the dragons.

Problems:- Unless i missed somthin they never explain where the dragons came from. McConaughey mentions one plane but he has way tool muh hardware for 1 transport aircraft (he even says that the plane crashed and he lost most of it!) There is no fuel tanker in site (after 20 year it must be getting scarse) yet his helicopter and tanks are motoring nicely. They say that there is only 1 male dragon and he farthers all other dragons... how sad is that (keeping in mind they have tacken over the world) Ending is pretty crap as well....

On a plus note the dragons look great, kinda like cool giant bats.

Oh and the poster is really misleading....

I've heard a lot of yanks slagging this off and a lot of Irish/British people living in the USA saying it's really very good. Draw your own conclusions.

One comment I've heard a few times is that it's not as "big" a film as the trailer suggests - it's not an epic action-packed blockbuster, it's much more focused and small-scale and intelligent. Probably explains why the Americans don't like it :)

Intelligent isn't a word id use to describe it, there are too many plot holes. I can understand the yanks being disapointed by it not being an action epic, the poster is very misleading (looks like apache gunships on the poster and there aint no gunships in the movie!!)

Its pretty much as i described i tried not to slant what i wrote too much. They put a lot of thought in the the dragons they look and behave like they are real. Not properly explaining 3 or 4 things in the movie (the dragons origins, the downfall of mankind, McConaughey managing to fly so much gear over, flashbacks the leader of the english enclave has, they are partially explained but not enough for the part they play in the movie etc... )
