My bill read this month: "IOL No Limits flat rate charge €41.98"

It used to be around €21.00.

Have they upped the price without notifying anyone?

They switched to two-monthly billing very recently. There was a note on the bill about it, but then who reads the notes on their bills these days.

Yeah, fell outta my chair when I saw a mini-statement online!

    That explains it so.

As for still having it.... :D:D  :D (I still feel very sorry for those other folk, but its been far better since the 2000 or so were cut off)

Far less than 2000 in the end but it has become much better. Far less having to log on at six because you know damn well that you'll never get on between 8 and 12

Upgrading at their end so that they could provide a satisfactory service to all their customers would have done that too.

Actually I can pretty much get online any time I want. :)

But I don't consider myself an over-user. I don't download BIG filez. I generally just browse for a few hours at a time. I have also been a customer of NoLimits since it started. So they've gotten quite a bit of money out of me.

Having said that I am grateful I'm connected, but I still think the whole system is pants. But it's nice being able to go online in the evening without counting the time online, and calculating mini bills in your head, which I know I would be doing if I was on a standard account.

I would *gladly* pay €50 per month for OFF-PEAK unlimited 56k dialup access. (IE, exactly what NoLimits is)

You folk shouldn't complain. Your getting a service that is unavailable to anyone else because esat suddenly decided to secretly monitor and then boot off people who went over a certain limit (in their no limit service).

Myself and my family now use IOLfree, and continue to use it almost entirely offpeak. We are charged for local calls. It comes to up to €150 approx. each month. This sickens me.

ps, have a look at the IrelandOffline forum if you are also sickened by having to pay as much as I do for your 56k internet access.

You get charged for just connecting to NoLimits? Are you sure. I have never seen extra charges on the bill.

Anyway, I still have SNL and am happy to have it! It's the main reason Esat are our phone service provider.

Yeah bi-monthly billing ... It got a lot of people worried. (You could try whay a friend of mine does ... he lets the bill accumulate and then pays it all off in a chunk so he has some level of revvenge if they ever decide to cut him off)

Is in also true that the NoLimits connection can now be moved to a different number and that it will be reintroduced?

They threatened to cut me off a year ago or whenever it was because of over usage
i called them up to complain and they said that they werent cutting me off but instead were limiting each connection to 3 hours which never happened
i didnt know they actually cut other people off
i guess i was lucky

First part: yes, apparantly. A few people have mentioned lately on the IOFFL forum that they've been able to do this

Second part: not that anyone seems to have heard. Rumours of other (less-good) discounted Esat products though - check it out on the IOFFL forum in this thread.
