electricity cable interference

    do you guys know if electic cable(high voltage-the ones on the wooden poles) would interfere with an aereal placed very closeby.

    Depends on the type of cable and distance.

    Most common type is NFA2X, which is 2 inter-twined aluminium cables with PVC insulation (the stuff you normally see hanging poll to poll on any bog road). This is 380 volt and will cause you no problems.

    Above this is 15mm bare aluminium. The ESB run this at 11, 33 and 132Kv and depending on distance and Kv will cause some interference.

    The big stuff is 30/40mm bare aluminium and normally runs at 220kv and I wouldn't go too near it if you like living.

    No. The ESB use timber poles as well, especially in rural areas.
