    Gold - €40 (3 DVD's at a time)
    Silver - €33 (2 DVD's at a time)
    Bronze - €25 (1 DVD's at a time)
how many times can you rent out a DVD before you have to renew your membership.

just say if you went for the Bronze package. then you could receive one DVD, watch it and return it within a few days.

so does that mean that it is possible to rent out just a movie a week for the year and only pay €25

if it is like that then i cant see how this comapany will make money.

Just read some more details in the FAQ

How much does it cost to join DVDrentals.ie?
The cost is dependent on your movie package. We currently have 3 packages available to our users
    Gold @ €40 p/m (3 DVD's at any one time)
    Silver @ €33 p/m (2 DVD's at any one time)
Bronze @ €25 p/m (1 DVD at any one time)

So that €40 every month, Xtravision charge less than €4 per rental so you'd need to rent more that 10 DVDs a month to make it worth while. Seems expensive to me.

There were a few posts over in Films/TV a while back about this.

A few people who tried it said their turnover seemed quite good.

Haven't tried it myself so I can't comment on that. You would have to actually watch the movie the night you get it and send it back the next day to be ahead financially. Good if you're nowhere near an outlet with a good selection of DVDs though.

    Well now, this is interesting:)
A while back, I came across a UK site http://www.dsviewdvd.co.uk/
Contacted them, but they couldn't supply ROI:(
They did offer me a franchise though, if I was willing to put up €20,000:eek:

So I might give this Irish site a go.
I don't see it catching on with me....though, I'll just try it for a while and post here how I get on.
Two reasons mainly why, I don't see me sticking with it.
One is, being already spoilt by buying stuff from play etc, means region 2 dvd's seem Old.
And Xtravision is just down the road and is packed with Babes:p

I have been using it since Feb, very handy :)
Thats for 3 dvds at a time, as i get maybe 6 or 7 posted per month, that is roughly 18-21 dvds a month for 40 euro.

At xtra-vision u rent at 4 euro a go, so do the maths, its better value doing it by post.

You can keep the dvd for 30 days max...heavens knows why you want to do that in the first place. Membership is on per month basis.
Its 25 euro per month, to get max dvds, you need to return them the next day...ie just pop them in your nearest postbox:)

The bronze pacakge works out nearly same cost as xtra-vision
The gain is on silver/gold packages as you get better value than xtra-vision though as they are a new crowd, their stock is growing.

So I would have to go for the silver or Gold, to make up on this.
I chose the bronze to start and see what the turn around times are.
But after, an hour sifting through their choice, in all the Genre's on offer, I was hard set to pick 15 that I would watch, the max number you could put in the wish list.
The choice is largely quite old unfortunately:(
But having said that , the ones I picked , I am looking foward to see'ing, whilst knowing I haven't bought them.

Getting the region ones does indeed spoil you into expecting rental co's like this one to have dvd's that are nearly up to date with whats in the cinema here.
